Arrol Gellner Architect www.gellner.net Client Description: An established architectural firm whose principle is also a syndicated columnist and published author of several architectural books. Client's Objective: Present a portfolio on the web so clients could conveniently review his work and writings. Previous site: None. Text/Art Supplied by Client: All photographs and all the text. My Objective: To bring the client's clean, carefully delineated graphical vision to his website. Budget: Whatever it took. Total cost/time: 125 hours. Challenges: Dissolves would be used to transition each frame of the primary portfolio "slide shows," and the challenge when using animation is to keep the file size small enough to suit users with narrowband connections (56K). Arranging all the various photographs and dressing them up for the web took quite a bit of time, as did creating a Chinese Language version of the site. Tricks: The portfolio slide presentations transition via a black-and-white image of the previous photo. Combined with the text dissolves, it makes for a unique viewing experience. |
